Character-Based Leadership
The picture above is the Pamper Pole at Camp Joy. We were challenged to trust ourselves and our classmates as we climbed up the pole, told the class our biggest challenge and what we were jumping towards, and then jumped from the pole towards a suspended trapeze pole. It was a life-changing moment in self-confidence.
Character-Based Leadership
This course taught more than leadership styles and the elements of a good leader. Instead, the seminar focused on all aspects of preparing to be a corporate partner. Mr. Bill Bagley focused on a Servant Leadership Model that encompasses focusing on serving others and compassion in the work place in order to move to the top of the corporate ladder. It’s a self-fulfilling model, and it taught me a very different perspective on leadership than I’d ever previously considered. I must learn to be a good leader to become a successful entrepreneur in the future, but I’d always thought that you must be a borderline arrogant and non-passionate person. I had never before considered that allowing your emotions to guide your priorities and a focus on serving others to be beneficial in the corporate world. It makes complete sense when it’s down on paper, but in my head I hadn’t made the connection. Bill Bagley also taught us the importance of networking and how to network properly, how to remain optimistic, how to understand and use your personality to your advantage, how to relate well with others and give performance feedback, and other very important aspects of being a great leader and a good corporate role model.
